This Diamante has traveled 180,ooo. That must mean the 6G72 3.0L V6 is reliable?

I have to say....I really love the lines on this Mitsubishi.
My only gripe? No sunroof :/

Ask yourself.....Would you hit this DSM if it had a 5 speed manual ?
I can picture it without the roof rack, a tasteful set of 17/18" wheels, flawless paint and a 2" drop. (Coil Overs?)
No one would understand why drool was coming out of their mouth. It just would :)

Honestly, probably not because I don't need a 3rd car

My favorite Diamante body style.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... That's no DSM, not by a long shot, not even close. The 6G72 is however pretty darn reliable though at 180,xxx I'd be really concerned about it burning oil and would give the trans a serious once over.

Yeah, but sunroofs only lead to maintenance problems once the car is a few years old. Personally, I wish more cars came with a "sunroof delete" option.

So not all Mitsubishi 's are considered DSM?
If not what is?

Jagvar,
As long as you keep an eye on how well lubricated the tracks are a sunroof will function perfectly for the life of the car. (Yes, if you fail to lubricate a failure will be imminent.)
Sunroof drains are easily unclogged.
If the sunroof does fail you can easily purchase a used sunroof cassette for roughly $100-150.
Personally I feel life is too short to own a car without a hole in the roof :)

Well, a decent rule of thumb is the first and second generation Elcipse, Talon, and Laser vehicles made by Mitsubishi, Eagle, and Plymouth respectively. There are also CSMs, and the 3000GT/Stealth cars also do not apply here.

WOW! I thought everything that came out of the early 90's was considered DSM. Thank you for the heads up.
Wikipedia has a great write up here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond-S…

My DSM pickup disagrees with you.

Much like the Starquests of that period, also not a DSM. As a general rule of thumb, if it wasn't assembled at a Normal, Illinois plant, it's not a DSM.

No worries man, basically if it wasn't assembled and badged in the Normal, Illinois plant it's not a DSM. 3000GT/Stealths, MightyMaxs and their bretheren, Starquests, and colt/mirages are also vehicles that are commonly mistaken for DSMs.

My truck was built at the Nagoya Plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It still has the heart of a DSM though... well, the same block at least.

Are you Sirius? :D

Kinda. Twin-cam with EFI = 4G63. Single-cam with carb = G63B.

I'm aware :), and even the 4Gs aren't the same they use the weird narrow block etc. Just a little mitsu humor.

Fair enough - I wasn't talkin' down or anything, the truck's a bit weird so not everyone knows stuff about it.
